3 - hot/cold running water under pressure in all required locations of tourist accommodation
Regulation: 511-6-2-.07(2) - hot water supply
EHS observed the following hand sink water temperatures to be below 120F:
- Room 104 - Water temperature 72F
- Room 307 - Water temperature 65F
511-6-2-.07(2) - Hot Water Supply Cold running water under pressure shall be provided to all equipment that uses water. Hot and cold running water under pressure shall be provided to all lavatories, bathing facilities, laundry facilities, and water-using equipment where eating and drinking utensils are washed. In all new tourist accommodations, and where possible in existing tourist accommodations, hot water in all guest rooms shall not exceed 120F.
CA: EHS advised the PIC that the water temperatures in all bathing facilities are to be above 100F but not exceed 120F; PIC is to investigate discrepancy in water temperatures between rooms and ensure all rooms are able to maintain a temp above 100F
8 - annual gas fired equipment inspection on file; gas units equipped with automatic safety and/or 100% cut-off pilot
Regulation: 511-6-2-.15(5) - heating and fire safety-inspection
EHS observed no gas-fired equipment inspection available for view during inspection. The PIC indicated that he would be obtaining an inspection in the following weeks.
511-6-2-.15(5) - Heating and Fire Safety-Inspection All gas-fired equipment shall be inspected at least annually by a qualified licensed contractor or local fire authority, if available. Points to be inspected are proper construction and installation, malfunctions and adjustments of controls and burners, faulty heat exchangers and vent obstructions. Any defects found on inspection must be corrected by a qualified heating contractor prior to use of the equipment. Upon request, the operator shall provide evidence of inspection and/or correction of any deficiency
CA: EHS advised the PIC that all gas-fired equipment shall be inspected at least annually by a qualified licensed contractor or local fire authority, if available. EHS informed the PIC that according to DPH inspection history, the facility has not had a gas-fired inspection report available for several past inspections; PIC was advised that if an inspection is not acquired soon, further action would be required to correct the repeated violation
27 - all furniture, waste receptacles, draperies, carpets; clean, and in good repair, considered the property of and furnished by the tourist accommodation
Regulation: 511-6-2-.14(5) - condition of furnishings
EHS observed the following:
- Room 104 - dirty a/c filter, rusted microwave
- Room 210 - a/c unit with missing front facias and no filter, burn marks on microwave exterior
511-6-2-.14(5) - Condition of Furnishings All furniture, draperies, appliances, carpets, and other accessories, in the tourist accommodation, whether the property of the tourist accommodation owner or not, shall be considered the property of and furnished by the tourist accommodation for purposes of enforcement of this Chapter, and must be maintained in good repair, clean, and free of vermin.
CA: EHS advised the PIC to ensure a/c filters are cleaned regularly. The PIC is to have all damaged and/or broken appliances either repaired or replaced
28 - beds, mattresses, mattress pads, springs, frames, pillows, and bed coverings clean; vermin free and in good condition; bed linen properly supplied, changed and laundered
Regulation: 511-6-2-.14(6) - bed, bedding, and linens
EHS observed the following items:
- Room 104: burn hole in sheets, red and brown stains on sheets and mattress cover, and reddish-brown stains on bath towels
- Room 210: blue stains on mattress cover
- Room 208: debris and hairs on linen
511-6-2-.14(6) - Bed, Bedding, and Linens Washable mattress pads or covers shall be used on all mattresses. Beds, mattresses, springs, slats, mattress pads, mattress and bed coverings, pillow and pillow covers shall be clean and free from vermin. Each bed shall be provided, as a minimum, with two sheets and one pillow and pillowcase. After each occupancy and upon the request of the occupant, sheets and pillowcases shall be changed with fresh laundered linens. During occupancy, linens shall be changed at a minimum frequency of not less than weekly.
CA: EHS advised the PIC that all linen items are to be in good condition, free of stains and/or holes; observed linen items are to be cleaned and replaced. Items from which stains can't be removed should be discarded and replaced
10 - permit and inspection report current and properly displayed; pic assigned
Regulation: 511-6-2-.05(7) - inspection posting
EHS observed no TA inspection report displayed for public view, PIC indicated he was unaware one had to be posted.
511-6-2-.05(7) - Inspection Posting The most recent tourist accommodation inspection report form shall be prominently displayed in public view at all times, between five feet and seven feet from the floor and in a public area such as the registration desk, where it can be read at a distance of one foot away.
CA: EHS advised the PIC that the TA inspection report shall be prominently displayed in public view at all times; the PIC is to print and display the inspection report resulting from today's inspection
23 - documentation and records available for inspection
Regulation: 511-6-2-.13(2) - insect and rodent control-records
EHS observed no pest control record available for view at time of inspection. When requested, the PIC was able to produce an invoice which did not pesticides used, rooms serviced, or pest targeted.
511-6-2-.13(2) - Insect and Rodent Control-Records A record must be maintained on file and available at request of Health Authority for no less than 18 months of any pesticide use on the premises, except for the occasional use of consumer insect sprays on small spots in accordance with the product label. The record may be made by the permit holder or provided by the applicator, and shall list the following information: (a) amount and concentration of product used; (b) name of product used; (c) date and location of application; (d) application method; (e) pest targeted; and (f) name of applicator.
CA: EHS advised the PIC that records must maintained on the premises for no less than 18 months of any pesticide use on the premises, except for the occasional use of consumer insect sprays on small spots in accordance with the product label.
