Observed free chlorine level to be 1.25-1.52. CA: Free chlorine must be maintained between 2.00-10.00. COS: The pool will remain closed at this time. The CPO will take action to increase the level of free chlorine in the pool. The facility will contact the Health Department to have the pool rechecked.

Regulation: 511-3-5-.22(5) - (5) the trained operator must perform a minimum of two visits weekly and be able to provide assistance whenever needed.
Observed lack of written documentation of the operator's minimum of two visits weekly. The only written documentation of testing was performed and completed by the facility maintenance personnel.
Corrective Action: Discussed responsibilities of the certified pool operator (CPO) with PIC. The trained operator must perform a minimum of two visits weekly and be able to provide assistance whenever needed. Written documentation of the operator's visits must be available at the pool facility and must indicate the condition of items including the circulation, filtration and disinfection systems, safety equipment, pool stairs and deck condition, water chemistry test results and any corrective actions, if necessary, that were taken by the operator. PIC will notify the CPO of all requirements. If the CPO is unable to fulfill their responsibilities, a current facility employee must complete and pass an approved CPO course or the facility can arrange for a contracted service provider with a written contractual agreement to operate the pool. The Health Department will recheck this in 1 month.

Observed free chlorine level to be lower than the minimum level. Free chlorine measured as low as 0.88 and up to 1.28. Corrective Action: PIC was notified. Pool was closed and PIC will contact CPO to correct the chlorine levels in the pool. Please call the Health Department at (706)295-6316 to have the pool rechecked.

Observed pH to be lower than the maximum level (7.8). pH was too low to measure on first sample. pH measured 8.0 on second sample. Corrective Action: PIC was notified. Pool was closed and PIC will contact CPO to correct the pH in the pool. Please call the Health Department at (706)295-6316 to have the pool rechecked.

The records did not include proper documentation of pool closure, records of chemicals used and amounts to adjust the water chemistry to comply with the chapter and documentation of retesting prior to reopening the pool. Corrective Action: Discussed recordkeeping requirements with PIC. If water test results are found not in compliance, the operator should close the pool, record findings and make the necessary adjustments to the water chemistry. All chemicals used and amounts shall be recorded on the operator log.
