13-188(h)(3): Tools & supplies near pool deck.

13-188(h)(4): the deck and adjacent areas within the pool enclosure shall be safe and well drained; observed long pole sitting across two recliners; pole should be placed where it is safely away from children

13-201(b): a shower with tempered water shall be provided at each approved entrance to the pool area; observed that the pool deck does not have a deck shower

13-188(h)(9): at least one covered and lined trash receptacle shall be provided on the pool deck; observed that the trashcan on the pool deck was not lined

13-189(a)(5): all pools shall be kept free from sediment and dirt; observed that pool has leaves and sediment in it

13-189(c)(1): a free-chlorine residual shall be maintained at a concentration of no less than 3ppm; it shall not exceed 10ppm; observed chlorine reading at 1.30ppm

13-189(c)(1): the pool shall be maintained in an alkaline condition with a pH level between 7.2 and 7.8; observed pH level reading of 6.4

13-202(a)(2) Observed pool entry doors at the leasing office not self-latching. CA: Entry into the pool area shall be at the shallow end of the pool through a self-closing, self-latching gate or door that has a positive-latching mechanism mounted at least 45” above the ground surface directly below the gate.

13-189(c)(1) Observed chlorine disinfectant level at 0.79ppm. CA:The free-chlorine residual in all parts of the pool shall be maintained at a concentration of no less than one and one-half parts per million (1.5ppm) at all times.

13-197(i) Observed the chemical feeder was non-functional and disconnected from the filter. PIC stated that they manually feed chlorine into the pool. CA:No disinfectant added by hand as the sole or primary method of adding disinfectant or pH control chemicals. 13-197(a)The water in each pool shall be continuously chemically treated with an approved disinfecting agent, with associated, approved equipment, whereby the residual can be easily measured by simple and accurate field tests.

13-202(d): Observed a life-saving ring measuring approximately half the size of the pool. CA: Each pool shall be provided with a Coast Guard approved lifesaving ring having an outside diameter of 15”-24”, firmly attached to a ¼”-3/8” diameter throwing rope that is as long as 1½ times the max width of the pool or 50’ (whichever is longer.)

13-205(b)(1) Observed turnover rate 9.52. CA:turnover every six (6) hours (pools).

13-202(c) Water testing and daily record keeping not available during inspection.

Each pool operator shall maintain and make available for inspection onsite upon request a daily record of operating information, together with other data as may be required for each pool relative to operation of the pool. The records to be made available for inspection shall include data on disinfectant levels, pH, maintenance procedures, together with such other data as may be required by the department relative to maintenance of the pool.

13-189(c)(4) The pool water shall be tested for the disinfectant level and pH at least 2 times each day or as often as necessary if circumstances warrant, including prior to opening and during peak bathing loads.

13-202(l) Observed float line rope not secured to pool. CA:Tightly stretched float line shall be installed across pool along slope-break in pools where depths exceed 5’. Floats spaced no more than 7’ apart and secured so they won’t move; Float line must be installed to separate swimming from other areas within the pool such as sliding, diving or from an amusement area; a 4” non-slip tile must be installed directly beneath and for the entire length of each float line.

13-187(c) Observed no operator certificate displayed neat the operating permit. CA: A copy of the pool operator’s certificate shall be conspicuously displayed near the operating permit.

13-184(e)(5), 13-188(f) Observed handrails loose and unsecured. CA: Unsecured handrails considered an imminent health hazard - safety hazard. All steps shall have handrails anchored in the bottom step and extended over the coping and anchored in the deck, or a handrail double anchored in the deck that extends out to the center of the bottom step with a max height of 6” above the normal water level at that point.

13-202(m) Observed signs not easily readable and letter not in in compliance. CA: Safety rules and regulations shall be easily readable and shall be conspicuously posted in the pool area. The lettering shall be a minimum of ¾” except as otherwise noted.

13-188(a) Observed pool surface with cracks and openings. CA:Pool surfaces shall have no cracks or open joints; shall be constructed of approved materials (vinyl liners and rough abrasive materials prohibited)

13-189(a)(5) Observed pool's 8ft end with dirt and debris during inspection. CA: All pools shall be kept free from sediment, dirt or debris by frequent brushing and vacuuming of the bottom and sidewalls. Visible scum shall be removed immediately.

13-188(h)(9) Observed no lined trash receptable located in pool area. CA: A minimum of 1 covered and lined trash receptacle shall be provided and placed in a convenient location in the pool area.

13-202(i) Observed no Emergency Action Plan available during inspection. CA:Each pool facility shall have in place a departmentally approved EAP. A written copy of the EAP shall be located to allow for immediate access in case of an emergency. The EAP shall include a “Chemical Emergency Evacuation Plan,” an “Emergency Crisis Plan,” a “Water Rescue and Injury Emergency Plan,” a “Drill Procedures for Emergency Situations,” and other emergency plans and safety programs.

13-189(c)(1) Observed testing kit chemical expired. CA:An N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine (D.P.D.) test kit, or other approved method by the department to measure the free chlorine residual shall be provided and used.

13-198(a) Observed pool equipment room kept unclean, unsafe, and without adequate lighting. CA: Pumps, disinfection equipment, filters, appurtenances and any other approved equipment shall be located in a permanent room, or completely enclosed area. The entry door shall open to the exterior of the equipment room or enclosure and shall be kept locked except for servicing the pool equipment. The equipment room or enclosure and any storage area used for pool supplies, additional equipment, or chemicals shall be kept clean, safe and adequately lighted. Approved overhead protection shall be provided to completely cover the entire equipment room or enclosure.
